The Moonlight by Yang Yongliang
Having seen Yang Yongliang’s incredible photographic series titled The Moonlight, I was looking through his site when I noticed an installation piece with the same name. The Moonlight is an oil painting on acrylic light film that is placed over a light box, which is then placed in a water pool that has a small fan beside it. In the light the piece looks rather mundane, but when darkness fills the room, the moon is illuminated and the fans rotation creates a beautiful ripple over the water that reflects the magnificent moon.

Rap Quotes by Jay Shells
This awesome project plots various locations in New York city that are mentioned by rappers in songs. Jay Shells places these street signs at the exact locations mentioned by the rapper and inadvertently creates a hip hop scavenger hunt that I’d love to take part in. I really hope these signs are never removed because it’s really interesting to know that when you stand below one of these signs, you’re standing at a point that has had a part to play in the evolution of hip hop culture. I’ve embedded a video below where Jay Shells gives more insight into the project.

Body Scripture by Ronit Bigal
Using black Indian ink Israeli artist Ronit Bigal skilfully and meticulously wraps parts of her subjects skin in calligraphy that’s made up of Hebrew scriptures taken from Biblical texts. The abstract images are often left looking like landscapes as the tiny lettering follows the contours of the body.

Watches by AÃRK Collective
Beautifully designed and produced these wonderfully simplistic watches caught my eye instantly. For me, clean minimalist design truly is the best design and that seems to be the case here. Every single watch created by AÃRK is stunning, and although small the entire range has something for everyone. If you’re interested you can find all the information needed in the links below, and you can purchase one for yourself here.

Solving A Rubix Cube While Juggling

This just made my day! It’s bloody hard to solve a Rubix Cube while holding it with both hands and following a guide, but to solve it while throwing it in the air with two other balls is mind blowing. The guys name is Ravi and he definitely deserves to be entered into the Guinness Book of Records for this.

Carved Paper Rolls by Ana Bidart
When I first saw this work I did think it was created out of toilet paper, however I was mistaken and the rolls of paper are much smaller, similar to receipt paper rolls in fact. Ana Bidart methodically cuts patterns through layer after layer of paper to create these fascinating sculptures that begin to look more like geological models than rolls of paper.

A Million Times by Humans Since 1982
Created out of 288 analogue clocks which are powered by 576 electric motors so that the minute and hour hands can be controlled independently. By doing so the hands are left constantly dancing in slow motion and as they rotate they form elaborate patterns and even work together to display text. I’ve embedded a fantastic video below to demonstrate the piece working.

I love this wonderful shelving idea however unfortunately for myself and every one of us it’s not in production and is only a concept. It’s made out of 6 thin planks of wood, and each plank is so thin it flexes and bends as you place books on them. I’ve embedded a video demonstration below which is well worth checking out.

Chuck by Natascha Harra-Frischkorn
I love this wonderful shelving idea however unfortunately for myself and every one of us it’s not in production and is only a concept. It’s made out of 6 thin planks of wood, and each plank is so thin it flexes and bends as you place books on them. I’ve embedded a video demonstration below which is well worth checking out.

Bad Dog by Richard Jackson
This 28 foot high sculpture was created by Richard Jackson, and is found outside the Orange County Museum of Art. As you can imagine the dog attracts a lot of attention from passers by, both negative and positive, but I personally think it’s pretty funny. The huge Labrador sculpture is rigged to spray yellow paint on the side of the museum, as well as anyone unfortunate enough to walk under it at the wrong time I presume. The sculpture is part of Richard Jackson’s "Aint Painting A Pain" exhibition, which runs until May 2013.

Guuurl by Lapalux

This is the new Lapalux single which was released a week or so ago, and is off his debut album "Nostalchic" which is released on Brainfeeder in March 2013. I personally can not wait for it, and I’ve been a big fan of Lapalux for a long time now. I imagine he will deliver as always with his album and I recommend checking out his back catalogue because every release has been on point since day one.
