Street Art by Roa
Found on Curtain Road in London this work dates back to 2009, however I’ve never seen it before and thought it was magnificent. By playing with perception, Roa is able to display the circulatory system of the rabbit and as you walk down the street you see it’s physical appearance as you look back, or vice versa.

Glitchy GIFs by Zack Dougherty
I had to do a bit of detective work to find who made these because the site which I saw them on gave no credit or artist information. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that they are created by an artist here on tumblr. There’s a link to their blog below and I strongly suggest checking out their tumblr page because it’s full of interesting and creative GIFs.

GIFs by Aakash Nihalani
I love these creative little GIFs. They are created entirely out of tape, and tape art has become Aakash Nihalani’s signature style. His work has been featured all over the internet and it’s hard not to notice it. I suggest checking out his tumblr to keep up to date with his latest work as it’s always interesting.

Hidden Typography by MountStar
These amazing animated typographic pieces are created by the Japanese motion graphic designer known as MountStar. Unfortunately tumblr is excessively restrictive on GIF file sizes and as all of these fascinating animations are over 2mb I am unable to upload them and I had to resort to still images instead. However I have embedded the animations below in the caption so that you can check them out for yourself.

GIF Animations: They may take a moment to load and be a little glitchy to begin with.

IRIS by Hybe
Utilising a hacked Xbox Kinect and a custom Arduino board this magnificent matrix of transparent LCD screens displays both wonderfully intricate moving patterns as well as mirroring peoples bodies and emulating their actions. A video is embedded below to demonstrate just how awe inspiring this work truly is.

Pixar by Unknown

When I was growing up nothing brought quite as much joy to my eyes as seeing this little guy hop across the screen. Pixar movies where a big part of my childhood and I still remember seeing Toy Story in the cinema when I was 8. I’m not sure who created this GIF, but if you know please feel free to enlighten me.

Cinemagraphs by Jamie Beck & Kevin Burg
By now, as tumblr users, we are fully aware of Cinemagraphs. It was interesting for me to watch this new form of GIF’s emerge from tumblr and it was one of the first great things I discovered when I joined just over a year ago. I really dislike GIFs, and these simplistic subtle animations gave me hope for what I considered to be the scourge of tumblr. To show my appreciation I thought I’d pick a few of my favourites that were made by the original creators of the cinemagraph, Jamie Beck & Kevin Burg.
